What’s Your Why?

Why are you doing this? Why would you want to open your own crochet business? Really??? You are doing that? That seems like you won’t make any money. Do people actually buy handmade stuff?

These are all questions I keep hearing from concerned people in my life (in a loving (sometimes) way). Questions that I have an answer for- actually I have 3 of them! Big P, Little P, and C. They are my why. They are why I do this. My end goal is to be able to spend more time with them. Be able to go to school functions and volunteer in the classroom. To never say that I can’t go to a function because I have to go to work- work where I don’t get to make my own decisions.

Crocheting is my love of yarn and making something that is sustainable and fashionable with my own hands. The calmness it brings to create, and the excitement of a new stitch or pattern. All of those things I do for me. That is what fills my cup.

But actually opening my own business- that is a lot for them. Hook & A Stich will allow me to have the freedom to do what we want without relying on someone else or their time schedule. Both my calendar and my income will be of my own choosing.

My Why is big and it’s powerful. What’s your why? How will it push you in the direction you want to go? How will it drive you to your goals and still help you go to sleep at night? I encourage you to write it down. Put your why on paper where you can see it. Remember it- and dream big for it. You can make anything happen when you really want it! I believe in you.
